PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh senior guard Kellii Taylor will miss the first eight games of the 1999-00 season after being ruled academically ineligible for the fall semester, coach Ben Howland said Tuesday.

Taylor will still practice with the team and could be eligible to play as early as the Dec. 20 game against Duquesne, Howland said.

Taylor averaged 8.5 points and was second on the team with 67 steals. He played in 24 games, starting 12. In 1996-97, his best season, he averaged 9.6 points with a school-record 101 steals.
