New trial denied for Minot man convicted of murder
Sep. 10, 2018
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A judge has denied a new trial for a Minot man convicted of murder in the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend last year.
A jury in May convicted 28-year-old Bradley Morales in the August 2017 death of 25-year-old Sharmaine Leake after an apparent domestic dispute. He faces life in prison when he's sentenced Sept. 28.
Morales objected to a presentence investigation and requested a new trial. The Minot Daily News reports that Judge Doug Mattson declined, saying there was sufficient evidence to convict Morales of murder.
