LIMASSOL, Cyprus (AP) _ Explosives and grenades have been discovered in a shipment of canned food from Lebanon, police reported Saturday.
Police spokesman Stelios Neophytou said a search of the shipment destined for Liberia via the port of Limassol in Cyprus uncovered TNT, plastic explosives and two hand grenades.
He said the crates were searched Friday after police were tipped that they may contain drugs.
The consignment arrived from the Lebanese port of Sidon on Sept. 29 aboard the Honduras-flag ship Libra, for shipment to Monrovia, Liberia.
Customs documents named a Lebanese as the sender.
