Brush fire threatens Utah homes before being extinguished

SANDY, Utah (AP) — A fast-moving brush fire threatened a dozen homes in a Utah city before it was extinguished.
KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2h02mko ) the fire started Monday in the south side of the Dimple Dell gully in Sandy.
Sandy Deputy Fire Chief Derek Maxfield says a dozen homes surrounding the gully were threatened as a slight breeze spread the fire north and east.
The fire was quickly contained. No structures or homes were damaged.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Neighbors said they heard fireworks just before they spotted smoke.
