LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Center Chris Engler, who has been playing in the Continental Basketball Association, has signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, the National Basketball Association team said Monday.

Engler replaces Bill Walton, who's sidelined with an ankle injury, on the Clippers' roster.

Engler, 24, who spent his college days at Wyoming, recently has been with the Wyoming Wildcatters of the CBA.

He has played in the NBA, including appearances in 100 games for the Golden State Warriors in a two-season span, and 10 appearances - with New Jersey and Chicago - this season.

The 7-foot center averaged 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 points while playing just under eight minutes per contest for the NBA clubs this season.

He is scheduled to join the Clippers immediately.
