NEW YORK (AP) _ ABC, NBC and CBS plan expanded coverage of the presidential primaries on Tuesday in California, New Jersey, New Mexico and Montana, the networks announced Monday.

CBS will have one-minute updates at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and a 30-minute special at midnight EDT, said Donna Dees, manager of communications for CBS News.

ABC plans two-minute special reports at 8 p.m., after 9 p.m. and after 10 p.m., with additional coverage around 11 p.m. EDT, said Elise Adde, director of news information. The network's regularly scheduled program ''Nightline,'' which airs at 11:30 p.m. EDT, will run an hour instead of the normal 30 minutes, she said.

Primary coverage at NBC will include two three-minute interruptions at 8:56 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., with a 30-minute special at 11:30 p.m. EDT, said Mark Angotti, an NBC researcher.
