HILO, Hawaii (AP) _ Stanford scored 19 of its last 21 points from the free-throw line Sunday night as the No. 15 Cardinal held off Butler for a 99-86 victory in the championship of the Big Island Invitational Tournament.
Kris Weems scored 29 points to lead Stanford (4-0). Mark Madsen added 17 points, Peter Sauer 16 and Arthur Lee 15.
Butler (4-2) got within 47-40 with 5:27 left in the third period, but Tim Young converted a three-point play for Stanford, which led by at least 10 points the rest of the way.
Matthew Graves scored 27 points for the Bulldogs.
Stanford jumped to a 25-6 lead when Kamba Tshionyi made two free throws with two seconds left in the first period. Butler rallied with an 18-6 run to close within 35-28 at the half.
