Suspected Bomb Was An Electric Razor
Sep. 18, 1987
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ A switched-on electric razor inside a suitcase prompted the police bomb squad to cordon off a main street, jamming downtown traffic for several hours, the national news agency TT reported.
Police acted when a foreign businessman called from a hotel lobby and said his suitcase was vibrating.
Hundreds of bystanders watched a police robot lift the suitcase into a reinforced container and transport it out of town to be disarmed Thursday.
A bomb expert opened the suitcase and heard a buzzing sound from inside a container, the news agency said. The container was fired upon with a shotgun. No bomb exploded, but the buzzing stopped.
Police handed over the remnants of the container and its contents to the businessman, who was not identified, the report said.
