LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Construction machine and equipment manufacturing giant Caterpillar has announced the second phase of expansion for a north Little Rock facility and has said they will hire 250 new workers in the next year.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson, joined Thursday by Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and Caterpillar officials, said that between 2017 and 2020, the company will have invested more than $40 million in expanding the plant.
In March 2017, Caterpillar announced the first phase of its expansion to increase jobs. At that time, the state offered incentives to Caterpillar including five years of a 3.9 percent tax rebate, sales and use tax credits and a $140,000 employee training program grant.
The facility, which opened in 2010, will now also produce paving equipment in addition to motor graders and loaders.
