NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — A worker from Connecticut has been killed in a construction accident at a Massachusetts Transportation Department facility in Northampton.
The Northwest District Attorney's office said 56-year-old Alfred Cabiya of Bristol died Thursday morning when he was pinned between two modular office units he and two others were working on.
One of the other men was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the third man was not hurt.
The men were working for Trico Welding of Beacon Falls, Conn., assembling the temporary buildings when one of the units apparently shifted.
The district attorney's office said Cabiya had a wife and three children.
State and local police are investigating along with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and federal and state labor authorities.
