DETROIT (AP) _ The Detroit Tigers on Wednesday released right-hander Dave Borkowski and re-signed him to a minor league contract.

Borkowski split the 2001 season between Triple-A Toledo and Detroit before going on the disabled list July 7 with a strained right shoulder.

In 15 appearances with the Tigers, Borkowski was 0-2 with a 6.37 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 29 2/3 innings. In 18 appearances with the Mud Hens, he was 1-2 record with a 3.54 ERA and one save.
