JACKSON, Miss. (AP) _ Actress Christine Lahti has given birth to a baby boy while in Mississippi filming ''The Miss Firecracker Contest.''
Wilson Schlamme, 7 pounds, 3 ounces, made his debut Tuesday, four days earlier than expected, for Miss Lahti and her husband, Thomas Schlamme, director of the movie.
Schlamme was with Miss Lahti during delivery at a Jackson hospital.
The couple had considered naming the baby Jackson, after his birthplace, said movie publicist Spooky Stevens.
''The Miss Firecracker Contest,'' based on a play by Mississippi-born Beth Henley, is being filmed in Yazoo City, about 45 miles north of Jackson. Miss Lahti and Wilson will return to the set until filming ends July 16.
''We're thrilled that mother and son are doing fine,'' Stevens said.
