Hal's Hope Wins Holy Bull Stakes

MIAMI (AP) _ Hal's Hope, a 40-1 longshot, won the $100,000 Holy Bull Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, beating Personal First by 5 1/2 lengths.
Hal's Hope, ridden by Roger Velez, ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:44 2/5, and paid $82.40, $29.00 and $17.20.
Personal First returned $7.60 and $5.20, and Megacles paid $7.00 to show in the Grade III race for 3-year-olds.
Hal's Hope was not nominated to the Florida Derby, but became eligible with the victory. The Florida-bred son of Jolie's Halo is owned and trained by Harold Rose.
