Dow Up 36; Nasdaq Off Another 51

NEW YORK (AP) _ The Dow Jones industrial average is up 36 points in today's early going. Advancing issues on the New York Stock Exchange hold a 9-7 lead over decliners.
The Nasdaq Composite Index is off 51 points and the Standard & Poor's 500 Stock Index is down three points.
Today's session should see a mix of forces on Wall Street.
Analysts say some investors may step in to pick up some relative bargains after losses the first two trading days of the year.
But others may still be in the mood to sell now that they can defer their capital gains taxes until next year.
Overseas markets have been uniformly lower today. Bond prices are lower as well, with a report on November factory orders due later this morning.
Amazon.com could provide a drag on the tech sector after it said strong fourth-quarter sales won't be enough to narrow its losses.
