Authorities: Father Kills Children, Takes Bodies to Fire Station
Aug. 30, 1993
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) _ A man recently released from a psychiatric hospital fatally stabbed his two children, then took the bodies to a fire station and confessed, authorities said.
James Hill, 35, of Rancho Cordova was being held on suspicion of killing Cari Hill, 8, and Eric Hill, 6.
The boy was dead when firefighters found the body Saturday night in the back of Hill's pickup truck. Cari died upon arrival at a hospital.
Hill and his wife of 11 years, Brenda Hill, recently separated after he completed a voluntary stay at a psychiatric hospital in Roseville, authorities said. Law enforcement and hospital officials would not comment on his treatment.
He told firefighters at the Roseville Fire Department that he stabbed the children, Placer County Sheriff Donald J. Nunes said in a statement. Firefighters found an 8-inch knife near the bodies. A motive for the killings was not immediately known.
Hill had picked up the children from his wife Saturday afternoon.
They died of multiple stab wounds to the torso and back, the coroner's office said.
