Police: Woman found dead at home, apparently hit with hammer
Jul. 20, 2017
BEL AIR, Md. (AP) — Police say officers responding to a suicide threat at a home in Maryland found a woman dead of blunt force trauma, apparently struck with a hammer, and a teenager with self-inflicted wounds.
Maj. William Davis of the Harford County Sheriff's Office says officers were called to the Bel Air home early Thursday. Davis says the officers found a deceased 56-year-old woman who had apparently been hit with a hammer.
A 16-year-old boy was in a bedroom. Authorities say he was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment of "multiple" self-inflicted wounds that were not considered life-threatening.
Davis declined to say whether the teenager was suspected in the woman's death and said no charges have been filed.
Neither was immediately identified and the investigation was continuing.
