DETROIT (AP) _ The Detroit Tigers announced Monday they had signed infielder Damion Easley, claimed infielder Dave Hajek off the waiver wire from Houston and added pitcher Fernando Hernandez to the 40-man roster.
Easley, 26, was acquired from California on July 31 in exchange for pitcher Greg Gohr. In 21 games with the Tigers, Easley hit safely in 14, posting seven multi-hit games on the way to a .343 average.
Hajek, 29, is a career .299 hitter in seven minor league seasons. This year, Hajek appeared in eight games for the Houston Astros, hitting .300.
Hernandez, 25, was acquired by Detroit from San Diego on Sept. 18 in exchange for a minor league player to be named. The right-hander posted an 11-10 record and a 4.64 ERA with Double A Memphis, finishing fourth in the Southern League with 161 strikeouts and holding the opposition to a .233 batting average.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ Left wing Brad May was to undergo surgery Monday for his injured right shoulder and was not expected to return to the lineup for at least two months, the Buffalo Sabres announced.

CHICAGO (AP) _ WGN-TV plans to televise 35 games of the NBA champion Chicago Bulls, a five-game increase over last season.
But pending further court action between the superstation and the league, the games will be carried only in the Chicago area, not on cable nationwide.
The NBA is seeking to curb the number of games shown on WGN-TV, which is carried in the Chicago area and into millions of homes around the nation by cable. The league has argued that the broadcasts hurt ratings of network games.
Last month, a federal appeals court said a judge overstepped his bounds last year when he ruled in favor of WGN in the lawsuit over the station's right to air Bulls games.
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) _ Solomon Islands boxer Joseph Saimei, who sustained severe head injuries in an amateur bout last month faces possible deportation from New Zealand because his visa has expired.
Saimei may be forced to return home without vital treatment. His visa expired two weeks ago while he was being treated for injuries sustained after being knocked out during an amateur bout in Auckland last month. Extensive bleeding affected nerves in his head, which left him unable to speak.
The super heavyweight was discharged from Auckland Hospital on Tuesday and doctors fear he will not recover completely if he does not undergo rehabilitation therapy at an Auckland speech clinic.
Such therapy is not available in the Solomon Islands.
BOSTON (AP) _ The Boston Red Sox announced Monday that reliever Stan Belinda will seek free agency and right-hander Ricky Trlicek has been claimed off waivers from the New York Mets.
