Mutilated Remains Found in Boston Dumpster Identified as Swedish Nanny
Jun. 25, 1996
BOSTON (AP) _ A Swedish teen-ager working as an au pair in a swank Boston suburb was slain and her mutilated remains dumped in a trash bin, police said.
Karina E. Holmer, 19, of Skillingaryd, Sweden, had been a nanny in Dover since March, police said Monday. She kept a small apartment in Boston for her days off from her work in the exclusive Boston suburb.
Police said friends identified her body after a man scavenging for cans found it Sunday in the city's Back Bay neighborhood.
Police spokesman Brendan Flynn said the body had been severed at the waist; only the top half has been found.
It was unclear how long the body had been in the bin. Holmer was last seen early Saturday morning by friends at Zanzibar, a Boston nightclub not far from where the remains were found, police said.
She had not been reported missing.
