CHICAGO (AP) _ Johnelle Slone's basket and two free throws by Shawn Harlan lifted Illinois-Chicago to a 73-69 victory Saturday over Cleveland State.
It was tied at 69-all on a layup by Cleveland State's Keith Roberson with 1:48 to go in the MIdwestern Collegiate Conference game.
The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Flames (9-17 overall, 5-11 MCC) and enabled them to make the eight-team MCC postseason tournament. The Vikings (5-21, 3-13) ended their season with a nine-game losing skid and without a postseason tourney berth.
Mike Lampley paced Illinois-Chicago with 18 points, while Eric Nichelson topped Cleveland State with 16.
The Flames led 40-31 at halftime, but the Vikings caught up at 50-50 on a 3-pointer by Leonidas Skoutaris that capped a 7-0 run by Cleveland State.
Roberson finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
