FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Officials at UNC Hospitals say a woman mauled by two Great Danes while jogging in her neighborhood is in critical condition.

The Fayetteville Observer reports (http://bit.ly/2njiG14) Monica Stephenson was jogging Sunday evening when the attack happened.

A report by Cumberland County Animal Control says Stephenson suffered bites to her face, head, neck and leg. The report said some of the bites went down to the bone. The report said Stephenson's husband made the 911 call.

Animal control director Dr. John Lauby said the male and female Great Danes were euthanized. Lauby said the dogs' owner voluntarily surrendered them, adding that the dogs managed to get out of his fenced-in yard.

According to the report, Stephenson is the director of the Fort Bragg Directorate of Public Works.
