Parnevik Leads Super Tour Golf
Dec. 13, 1997
MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ Sweden's Jesper Parvenik shot a 4-under-par 68 today to take the third-round lead in the four-stop Johnnie Walker Super Tour, while Wales' Ian Woosnam withdrew because of heat exhaustion.
``I played very solidly today,'' said Parnevik, who took a 10-under 206 total into Sunday's final round in Taiwan. ``It's been a very tough week, and the schedule has been very tight. The heat made it difficult.''
Woosnam succumbed to the tropical heat on the 15th hole.
England's Nick Faldo, who shared the lead with Parvenik after rounds Tuesday in Indonesia and Thursday in Thailand, shot a 72 on the Fairways and Bluewater Resort course to drop four strokes back.
South Africa's Ernie Els, the defending champion, was third at 5-under 211 after a 71, and Filipino star Felix Casas and Thailand's Boonchu Ruangkit followed at 212. Casas shot a 71, and Ruangkit had a 70.
