Police arrest 2 men in Times Square hit-and-run of officer

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say two Bronx men arrested in connection with the hit-and-run of an officer following a traffic stop in Times Square were there for social media.
Police said Thursday that 20-year-old Arfhy Santos and 24-year-old William Lopez were involved in the incident Saturday night which was caught on video .
Santos, believed to be the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, was arrested on attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment charges. Lopez was arrested on reckless endangerment and reckless driving charges.
Information on their lawyers wasn't immediately available.
Police say the officer was attempting to stop the vehicle, which they say was driving recklessly, but was knocked over when the car fled the scene. The officer sustained minor injuries.
Police say the men were using the Times Square backdrop for social media.
