BEREA, Ohio (AP) _ Orpheus Roye, who had a career-high 95 tackles with the Browns last season, has signed a three-year contract extension.

Roye, 33, has played the last six seasons with the Browns. He is expected to return to his starting spot at left defensive end, where he started all 16 games last season despite knee problems.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Roye had 59 solo tackles and led the team with 12 quarterback pressures. He ranked third with three sacks.

Roye joined the Browns in 2000 as an unrestricted free agent after spending four years with Pittsburgh, which drafted him from Florida State in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL draft.

Browns general manager Phil Savage also is working on new contracts for starting left tackle L.J. Shelton and running back Reuben Droughns.

In December, linebacker Andra Davis signed a five-year contract extension.
