NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) _ Abbas Hassani Saadi, a former aide to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and member of parliament, was killed in an automobile crash in southeastern Iran, it was reported Friday.
The official Islamic Republic News Agency reported that Saadi's nephew, who was driving the car, also was killed in the accident on the highway from Kerman to Rafsanjan.
Saadi, a clergyman, served as the Iranian leader's representative in the Construction Crusade, a paramilitary organization that built fortifications and military support facilities during the eight-year Iran-Iraq war. His age was not given.
He was elected last year to the Majlis, the Iranian parliament, the news agency said.
