Six Injured in Marine Helicopter Crash
Apr. 09, 1989
FORT MCCOY, Wis. (AP) _ A Marine helicopter on a training flight crashed in a wooded area Saturday and all six people on board were injured, an Army spokeswoman said.
Three crew members and three passengers were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Sparta for treatment, said Mary Binder, public affairs officer at Fort McCoy. Four were treated and released and the other two were kept for additional observation.
''They're stable at this time,'' she said.
The Marines and the UH-1 helicopter were from a Marine Corps Reserve aviation unit at Glenview Naval Air Station near Chicago, she said.
The helicopter was badly damaged and the crash was under investigation.
