Temple signs coach Rhule to 4-year contract extension
Jun. 25, 2015
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Temple has signed coach Matt Rhule to a four-year contract extension through the 2021 season.
Rhule went 8-16 in his first two seasons with the Owls. Temple failed to make a bowl game last season with a 6-6 record.
Rhule was hired at Temple in 2006 as an assistant under Al Golden and stayed for six seasons before leaving for a stint with the New York Giants. Rhule returned to the Owls after former coach Steve Addazio left for Boston College.
"I am thrilled to sign this extension and to know that I will continue to lead the program into the future," Rhule said. "I'm proud of our student athletes and all that they do and I look forward to continuing to lead and teach them for years to come. Temple has been my family's home since 2006 and I am honored to be able to serve the university as its football coach."
