FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Kaiserslautern won 3-1 in Regensburg on Sunday to clinch third place in Germany's second division, securing a slot in the playoff for a place in the Bundesliga next season.
Kaiserslautern's opponent will be the 16th-place team from the Bundesliga that will be known after the final round next Saturday. It could be one of three teams, Fortuna Duesseldorf, Augsburg or Hoffenheim.
If Kaiserslautern wins the two-leg playoff on May 23 and May 27, it will return to the Bundesliga after one season in the second division.
Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Braunschweig have won direct promotion from the second division. Greuther Fuerth has been relegated from the Bundesliga.
