SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico's government is investing $27 million to renovate the coastal areas of eight towns.

Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla says the upcoming renovations will create more than 300 jobs and include the construction of boardwalks. Among the places targeted are the popular tourist spots of Boqueron and La Parguera on Puerto Rico's southwest coast.

Garcia said Tuesday that he expects the improvements will lead to new tourism-based businesses that will offer fishing and water sports.
