ROYAL OAK, Mich. — Authorities say a Detroit-area police officer has fatally shot a man who reportedly assaulted his parents and rushed at the officer afterward. Royal Oak police say 20-year-old Cody Reynolds died in the early Monday shooting. No officers were injured. SENT: 130 words.
— GAS PRICES-MICHIGAN: AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide have risen about 7 cents in the past week. The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.93 per gallon. Prices are about 52 cents more than at the same point last year.
— GAS STATION SHOOTING: Detroit police say a gas station clerk has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a customer following an argument. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon on the city's west side.
— FREEDOM RIDE-SOUTHFIELD: The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Task Force in Southfield is sending about 40 middle and high school students to civil rights sites. The 2018 Freedom Ride in August will make stops at historical sites in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
— VALPARAISO-FACTORY REDEVELOPMENT: A developer plans to build apartments and townhouses with convenient commuter bus service to Chicago at the site of a former windshield wiper factory in northern Indiana. An Indianapolis-based company has proposed a $78 million investment at Valparaiso's former Anco factory site, while a Michigan-based distillery has plans for the old factory.
