Three Drown After Pleas Mistaken

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) _ Three people from Guatemala drowned after their pleas for help were mistaken for horseplay by onlookers who didn't understand Spanish.
The victims, ages 16, 18 and 28, were swept away by the current Monday while wading in an inlet. Their bodies were found on Tuesday.
``Initially it was heard they were yelling, but witnesses thought they were goofing because they were Hispanic males and they did not understand them,'' said John Roberts, who helped oversee the rescue effort.
