CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) _ Anglican Bishop Desmond Tutu will become archbishop of Cape Town on Wednesday in a private, informal ceremony, church spokesman Terry Crawford- Brown said Monday.
He said the official investiture will take place in the Church House four days before Tutu's public enthronement before 1,300 people in St. George's Cathedral, in an internationally broadcast service.
Crawford-Brown said that in the Wednesday service, Tutu takes over the authority and jurisdiction of the southern African division of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
