Police Arrest High Schooler for Making Bomb
Mar. 11, 1994
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A teen-ager who accidentally started a fire in his basement was arrested on bomb-making charges after police seized incendiary chemicals and manuals explaining how to make explosives.
David Zembrzuski, 18, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted of manufacturing a bomb.
The fire Wednesday burned a table, chairs, cardboard boxes and insulation in the basement ceiling, said Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas Merola. Police said they seized the makings of several bombs.
Zembrzuski said he was just doing experiments. His father also called it an accident.
''As far as we're concerned, he wasn't trying to make a bomb and that's all we're willing to say about it,'' Mark Zembrzuski said Thursday.
