MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican Attorneys General Association is preparing to launch a $2.5 million television ad campaign supporting Attorney General Brad Schimel.

RAGA will begin running ads statewide next week. The ads will focus on Schimel's 30-year career as a prosecutor. The ads also will paint Schimel's opponent, Democrat Josh Kaul, as inexperienced and question Kaul's commitment to Wisconsin.

Kaul grew up in Fond du Lac but graduated from Yale and Stanford Law School and worked as an assistant federal prosecutor in Baltimore.

Kaul campaign spokeswoman Gillian Drummond had no immediate comment. State Democratic Party spokeswoman Courtney Beyer says the buy shows Schimel is floundering.

Democratic Attorneys General Association spokeswoman Lizzie Ulmer says that organization has allocated $2 million for ads backing Kaul. She didn't immediately reply to messages asking how much would be spent on TV.
