ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel appeared at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery with a bandage on his cheek.
Pentagon officials said the bandage was a result of a minor kitchen accident.
"He stood up quickly after bending over, and scratched his cheek on an open cabinet door," said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary. "No stitches were required. He did not go to the hospital."
Vice President Joe Biden also was at during the wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Veterans Day.
