WHAT'S AT STAKE

Fresno State is looking for a marquee victory after losing 19 straight games against top 25 opponents. Ole Miss is hoping to gain some more momentum heading into a crucial Southeastern Conference game against Alabama on Sept. 19.

KEY MATCHUP

Fresno State RB Marteze Waller vs. the Ole Miss defense. Waller is one of the most accomplished active running backs in the Football Bowl Subdivision, ranking seventh with 2,342 yards rushing. He'll go against a Rebels defense that was one of the best in the nation last season and has a deep defensive line led by junior DT Robert Nkemdiche.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Fresno State: LB Ejiro Ederaine. The senior had a productive first game in the Bulldogs' win over Abilene Christian, finishing with six tackles, a sack and an interception. He has 30½ tackles for a loss and 13 sacks in his career.

Ole Miss: QB Chad Kelly. The junior transfer had an encouraging debut for the Rebels, completing 9 of 15 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also had a 20-yard touchdown run. Coach Hugh Freeze said Kelly will start for the second straight week against Fresno State, but is still in competition with sophomores Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade for the full-time starting job.

This is the third meeting between Fresno State and Ole Miss in a series that started in 2010. Ole Miss won 55-38 in 2010 in a game played in Oxford and 38-28 in 2011 in Fresno. ... Nkemdiche had a good all-around game against UT Martin, making three tackles, catching a 31-yard touchdown pass and blocking a field goal on special teams. ...
