Police: Man dies on Winchendon pond

WINCHENDON, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Winchendon man has died after falling out of an inflatable raft on Whitney Pond.
Authorities responded to the pond at about 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of people in the water needing assistance.
The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/16FCiej ) reports that when police arrived, they found 52-year-old Daniel Pellon out of the water and being treated by witnesses.
Witnesses told police that Pellon, his son and his son's girlfriend had been floating on inflatable rafts. At some point, Pellon fell out of his raft and was in distress in the water.
He was taken to Henry Heywood Hospital in Gardner after being treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
