PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — A university in New Hampshire has welcomed home a student who finished competing in the Winter Olympics with a packed assembly of supporters.

Members of the Plymouth State University community gathered Tuesday night to welcome back Freydis Einarsdottir, a junior who competed in alpine skiing for her home country of Iceland. WMUR-TV reports she is the first PSU athlete to compete at the Olympics as a current student.

The school unveiled a banner at the event to commemorate her accomplishment.

Einarsdottir is on the PSU alpine ski team and is ready to get back to work in New Hampshire. She says her focus now is catching up on school work she missed while at the Olympics.
