COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) _ A 1970 calendar autographed by former Beatle John Lennon sold for $4,412 at an auction.
Two Christmas cards signed by Lennon's second wife, Yoko Ono, and their son, Sean, fetched $2,868, twice the projected price.
Those items and others auctioned Saturday belonged to Aage Rosendahl, who was a school principal when he met Lennon and Ono during a trip they made to northern Denmark in 1969. The two were visiting Ono's then-5-year-old daughter, Kyoko, who lived there with Ono's ex-husband, Tony Cox.
Rosendahl, 82, decided to sell the memorabilia ``because he believes it's time to pass it on to others,'' auctioneer Hans-Joergen Eriksen said.
The auction raised $8,618, which Eriksen said Rosendahl plans to donate to peace groups in Denmark ``in line with Lennon's spirit.''
Lennon was shot and killed in New York in 1980.
