STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi State baseball player has been arrested on a charge of domestic violence.

News outlets report that 19-year-old Luke Hancock was arrested early Sunday morning on the misdemeanor charge.

Public records obtained from the Starkville Municipal Court on Tuesday say the freshman catcher "attempted to cause bodily injury" to a woman by "grabbing her with his hands and pushing her from behind and striking her on the back of her head."

Hancock's relationship to the woman was redacted for privacy purposes.

The university said in a statement that he's been indefinitely suspended from the team as it investigates. News outlets didn't include comment from Hancock or a representative.

Hancock attended Houston High School and verbally committed to the Bulldogs in 2014, before signing on last November.
