EU Jobless Rate Falls

BRUSSELS (AP) - Unemployment in the European Union fell to 10.3 percent in February, the lowest level in the 15-nation bloc since 1993, the EU's statistical office Eurostat said Wednesday.
Eurostat estimates that 17.4 million people were unemployed in the EU in February, which is 600,000 less than the year earlier period.
Ten member states were under the EU average in February, with the lowest rate in Luxembourg, which posted a 3.4 percent unemployment rate. Spain registered the highest jobless rate, with 20 percent.
In March 1993, the average unemployment level was 10.4 percent, Eurostat said in a statement.
