ATLANTA (AP) _ Igor Varitski, Pavel Lazarev and Evgeni Bobykin had a goal and an assist apiece as Russia ended Team USA's seven-game unbeaten streak with 6-1 victory Monday night.
The Russians built a 5-0 lead before David Roberts scored on a 5-on-3 power play at 18:35 of the second period. Roberts has seven goals and 10 assists in the team's last 11 games.
Russia took a 2-0 lead in the first period on Valeri Karpov's goal at 8:36 and Varitski's shot directly off a faceoff at 15:27.
The Russians, with five players from the world championship tournament team that beat Sweden last May, got second-period goals from Bobykin at 3:19, Dmitri Popov at 4:02 and Lazarev at 14:11.
Jeff Lazaro and Mark Beaufait assisted on Roberts' goal, and Team USA trailed 5-1 after two periods.
Konstantin Astrakhantsev scored the only goal of the third period, at 1:44.
Team USA, 25-11-5 in its pre-Olympic tour, won its previous four games was 6-0-1 since a Nov. 17 loss to a different Russian team.
Russia, made up of 19 players from the Traktor Chelyabinsk team that finished third in the Russian pro championships, cut Team USA's lead to 2-1 in the current seven-game series, which continues Tuesday in Greensboro, N.C.
U.S. penalty killers stopped all nine Russian tries, but the American power play mark was only one for eight.
