MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — It's cold but not record cold in northern New England.
In Vermont the temperature dipped to 30 below zero in East Brighton shortly after midnight.
Many places in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom were in the 20s below zero early Saturday morning.
The coldest spots in New Hampshire were 25 below in Berlin and North Chatham while Maine recorded minus 36 near Allagash and minus 29 in Madawaska and Fryeburg.
Those temperatures don't factor in wind chills, which were 39 below zero in Madawaska and 42 below in Presque Isle.
One of the jetways at the Portland International Airport was frozen in place Saturday morning, leaving passengers stuck on a US Airways-flagged jet for an hour until workers could get the passage way unstuck.
