CENTRE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a work-release inmate who left a job site in Alabama has been recaptured in Georgia.
Al.com reports that 40-year-old Jimmy Wayne Blair Jr. walked away from a construction site about 10:30 a.m. Monday in Centre, Alabama.
They say he left in a truck — a 2003 Dodge 3500 flatbed — that belonged to his boss and apparently headed back home to Georgia.
Deputies from two counties searched for him all afternoon.
He was finally arrested about 11 p.m. Monday in Rome, Georgia. He's charged in Floyd County, Georgia, with theft of property, fugitive from justice and probation violation.
Jeff Shaver, the sheriff in Alabama's Cherokee County, says that Blair will be extradited to Alabama when a Georgia court releases him.
