Thomas and Nagy AL's Best in September

NEW YORK (AP) _ Frank Thomas of the Chicago White Sox and Charles Nagy of the Cleveland Indians were named the respective AL player and pitcher of the month for September, the league announced Tuesday.
Thomas batted .341 with 11 home runs in 23 games. The two-time AL MVP led the league in slugging percentage (.750) and his on-base percentage was .433. He finished the season hitting .349 with 40 home runs and 134 RBIs.
Nagy went 4-1 with two complete games last month with a 2.56 ERA, helping the Indians clinch their second straight AL Central title. The right-hander finished the regular season 17-5 with a 3.41 ERA.
