Boy Scout leader from Peabody facing child porn charges
Dec. 16, 2014
BOSTON (AP) — A former Boy Scout leader who also taught at a North Shore YMCA is facing child pornography charges.
Patrick Lynch of Peabody was held without bail pending a detention hearing scheduled for Thursday at an initial court appearance on Monday. He was arrested Friday and charged with possession of child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say the 22-year-old Lynch received emails containing child pornography beginning in May 2013. He was identified during an investigation into child pornography being conducted by Homeland Security agents in North Dakota.
Lynch taught a rock climbing course at the Greater Beverly YMCA for about five hours a week. A Y spokeswoman says he passed criminal background checks.
It's no clear if he has a lawyer.
