Israelis' views of Benjamin Netanyahu's first year in power:
``Netanyahu has been very bad. He is unreliable and not even half as sophisticated as he needs to be. He has caused the deterioration in the peace process and the economy while at the same time has lowered the image of Israel among friends and enemies alike. He does not have a consistent line _ not with Arafat or within general policy.'' _ Mira Finekelstein, 45, advertising executive from Tel Aviv.
``Bibi is wonderful. There has been no real series of terrorist attacks, so I say the situation is great. Yes, there is no advancement in the peace process but that it not exclusively because of Bibi. I appreciate his courage.'' _ Roni Adiv, 30, ecurity guard at Jerusalem central bus station.
``He has showed the Palestinians that they won't get everything they demand. We have returned to a give and take _ real negotiation. The question is if there will be a breakthrough. Bibi looks after the interest of the Jewish state over the interests of the Palestinians. Red lines needed to be established, and this is what he has done.'' _ David Houry, 37, electrical engineer in Jerusalem.
``He has destroyed the fabric of the state. Before Netanyahu there was justice in government. Now (after the Bar-On affair), it is dangerous. We have a man who thinks he can get away with anything.'' _ Hillel Ben-David, 23, law student at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
