MANILA, Philippines (AP) _ A police officer whose disclosure of a terrorist threat led some nations to close their embassies has been relieved of his duties, officials said Thursday.
Australia, Canada and the European Union closed their embassies indefinitely on Nov. 28, citing ``specific and credible'' terrorist threats.
Supt. George Gaddi was relieved of his post as Manila police intelligence chief and was being investigated for making the unauthorized disclosure, Interior Secretary Jose Lina said.
Gaddi could not be immediately reached for comment.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said Tuesday that the information passed on to the embassies was exaggerated and unverified and ordered police officials to punish the officer involved.
``He did harm to our country,'' Arroyo said.
