MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Police in Mesa say a man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend.
They say 22-year-old Martin Laney was booked into jail Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Laney didn't have a lawyer at his initial court appearance, where his bond was set at $750,000.
Police say they were called to an apartment around 8:30 a.m. Monday and found 22-year-old Alina Duwyenie wounded.
Police say she was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Larney was originally detained for questioning on what had been reported as an accidental shooting.
During his interview with police, they say Larney eventually admitted he was upset over jealously issues with Duwyenie that allegedly led to the shooting.
