3 children injured in hit-and-run crash on Florida highway
Dec. 28, 2017
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says they've found the man suspected of leaving the scene of a crash on Interstate 75 that left three young children injured.
The agency said in a news release that two girls — ages 6 and 8 — were ejected from the SUV they were riding in when a pickup truck hit their vehicle south of Tampa on Wednesday night. A 10-year-old boy was also injured.
The SUV went into the grassy median and overturned. The SUV's driver received minor injuries.
Troopers found the truck abandoned about 13 miles away and 63-year-old Billy Catherwood was arrested Thursday. He's accused of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash.
Records don't list a lawyer for him.
