Doctor Acquitted of Charge He Raped Patient During Pelvic Exam
Aug. 07, 1991
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) _ A doctor who conceded having sex with a patient during a pelvic exam was found innocent of rape.
A jury deliberated four hours before acquitting Morteza Mohit, 55, of Scarsdale on Tuesday.
Mohit wept. ''It's been a year of torment,'' he said.
Defense attorney Jeanne Mettler said Mohit, a general practitioner, had sex with the 27-year-old woman in his Yonkers clinic during her first visit to him, but that she had consented.
Prosecutor Barbara Egenhauser argued Mohit exploited a welfare patient whose story he thought no one would believe.
